If you are a Biotechnology student in the final year of your graduation then you will be actually worried aboit how and where to do your Summer training/internship. Let me help you out a little. Moving on, first of all decide your area of interest.
1)Research oriented training.
2)Industrial based training.
3) Analytical concept clearing.
First let’s say you have a interest in the Research field. Hang on there you must actually be passionate towards your interest and patience is a must point. And if you can go with it, here is a list of some good institutes/organisations you must try for:
etc and some more centrally funded labs. The main point is hiw to cantact them. Be sure you are contacting them 3-4 months early as the seats are limited. You must go to the desired institute’s web page and find out the list of scientists. Take their contact information and try contacting them via e-mail & Phone Nos. Be sure you are interested in their thrust area.
Next is the Industrial Biotechnology Training. As such there is no institute providing you an Industrial training but you can contact some Pharma & Allied industries for the same. You cannot be sure of getting a training at these industrial setup but a try is must.
Fermentation based industries.
Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL)
A scheme of practical industrial training for M.Sc./M.Tech./B.E./B.Tech/MBA. Biotechnology students is offered by the Government owned BCIL. It is the best way to get into it as they provide you with best institutes. You must regularly visit their official webpage for the same.
Next is Analytical skills clearance. If you are weak at the base then you must go for them. Clearing your base is must in the field. Go for training in areas like PCR, CHROMATOGRAPHY TECHNIQUES, e.t.c. so that your base is clear. You can go for small lab setups for the purpose or you can request for the same at a centrally funded institute if granted permission.
